TLI Associate Editor – Call for Applications
Associate Editor, Teaching & Learning Inquiry: The Journal of the International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning
Applications due April 1, 2022
The ISSOTL Publications Committee seeks applications for an associate editor for Teaching & Learning Inquiry (TLI). This position reflects the Society’s interest in maintaining a sustainable editorial structure and the journal’s commitment to supporting the professional development of SoTL colleagues around the world.
TLI has established itself as a prominent journal in the field of the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL). TLI features original research and commentary on SoTL from a wide range of disciplines, and other scholarly works that document or facilitate investigations of teaching and learning in higher education. These may include empirical and interpretive investigations, theoretical analyses, thought-provoking essays, or works employing other genres.
The associate editor appointment will be for three years, starting May 2022. The appointment will be renewable for a second term. The position is voluntary and involves meeting tight deadlines and participating in monthly virtual editorial meetings. Associate editors work closely with the editorial team (i.e., two co-editors and several associate editors) in maintaining the journal’s ethos of mentorship and collaboration in making important decisions regarding submissions to the journal. For submissions deemed appropriate for peer review, associate editors assign and work with reviewers to maintain the journal’s ethos and standards, consult with the editorial team in making decisions about submissions, work with authors on subsequent manuscript development where deemed appropriate, and work with the journal’s copy-editor to finalise manuscripts before publication. The associate editor will also engage in enhancing TLI’s international outreach, particularly from regions that have had a relatively limited presence in or engagement with the journal.
Please consider submitting an application if you are looking for a rewarding opportunity to continue developing your editorial skills, help fellow SoTL scholars develop and publish their work, and contribute to the development of one of the field’s pre-eminent publications. ISSOTL’s Publications Committee, together with the co-editors, will make a selection based on the criteria outlined below.
