ISSOTL Board of Directors | 2025 Call for Nominations

The International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, a growing international organization dedicated to the scholarship of teaching and learning, needs leaders who are original thinkers, hard workers, and esteemed colleagues in the profession. ISSOTL’s Board representatives establish new directions for this organization while managing ongoing activities and services of the Society.

The ISSOTL Recognition Committee welcomes suggestions for nominees, including self-nominations, to roles on the ISSOTL Board for the following positions:

  • President-Elect
  • Regional Vice President, Africa
  • Regional Vice President, Latin America and the Caribbean
  • Regional Vice President, Middle East
  • Student Vice President

ISSOTL Board representatives carry out responsibilities according to ISSOTL’s bylaws, normally participate in the annual ISSOTL conference during their term of office (with their funding), and help the Society increase and serve its membership.

Terms of office are as follows:

  • Three years for Regional Vice Presidents
  • Two years for Student Vice President
  • One year is for the president-elect, who becomes president and past president in subsequent years (for three years of service).
  • Those officers elected in 2025 will begin their terms on July 1, 2025.

Submissions

To suggest a nominee, if it is not yourself, please first verify that the individual is a member of ISSOTL and willing to stand for candidacy. Self-nominations are also accepted.

To submit the nomination to the Recognition Committee, please submit the following information in a single PDF file:

  • Name, institution, and title of candidate.
  • Contact information (address, email address, phone number).
  • Position for which the person is interested in being a candidate.
  • Brief biography, written in the first person that will be displayed on the elections ballot (max 150 words), including factors such as:
    • individual scholarly work on teaching and learning
    • experience in organizational leadership
    • recognition and respect within the scholarship of teaching and learning community
    • ability to work well with a team
    • range of contacts in higher/tertiary education, etc.
  • Candidate’s statement (max 150 words)
    • The candidate’s statement, written in the first person, should cover why they wish to stand for the post, and include their vision for what they would like to achieve in the post. These statements will be posted on the elections ballot.
  • Your name, institution, title, and contact information (if not the same as the candidate)

Please submit candidate packages as a single PDF file and label the file as such: firstname_surname_position.pdf (i.e., Patrick_Maher_VPCanada.pdf).

Packages must be submitted no later than March 31, 2025.
