ISSOTL Interest Groups (IGs) are member-led groups that are organized around shared interests and recognized with a formal relationship within ISSOTL. IGs provide newcomers with collegial pathways into ISSOTL and sustain the ongoing engagement of their members. IG members establish connections and conversations around the world, share ideas across broad networks, organize scholarship projects and other activities, and take up other meaningful initiatives together. To learn about the kinds of activities many IGs undertake, read “Interest Groups: ISSOTL in Action.”

To update the Chair of an existing ISSOTL Interest Group, please complete this brief form.
To remain active, Interest Group Chairs must submit an annual report (using this form) to the ISSOTL Board at least 15 days prior to the annual ISSOTL conference. To avoid confusion with new members attempting to join, Inactive Interest Groups will be removed from the list above and the members-only spaces.
Join an Interest Group
To join an ISSOTL Interest Group, follow these steps:
- Log in to the members-only space of ISSOTL’s website by clicking the person icon in the top right corner of the screen, and then enter your login information.
- After you’re logged in, click on “Engagement” in the grey Member Menu, and then click “Committees/Interest Groups.”
- Click “sign-up…” under the relevant Interest Group’s name, and then click the (very light) grey “Sign Me Up!” button. (If there is no button, you are already a member of that Interest Group.)
After you follow the above steps to join an Interest Group, its Chair will be notified within a week and will then reach out to you. If you do not hear from that Chair, please email executivedirector@issotl.com. You’ll also find the name and email address of the Interest Group Chair by clicking the Interest Group name in the list of “Current Interest Groups” above.
Form a New Interest Group
Please first review the existing ISSOTL Interest Groups (above) to make sure your topic isn’t already represented.
Current members may propose a new Interest Group by filling out this brief application form. Submit complete applications to ISSOTL’s Historian at historian@issotl.com. Interest Group applications are first reviewed by the ISSOTL Historian and then considered for approval by the ISSOTL Board of Directors.
Approved Interest Groups will be added to the list above using the information from the application, and will be given a group area within ISSOTL’s members-only web space (see “Log In” button above).
