CFP: 6th Biennial Threshold Concepts Conference

Dalhousie University invites you to submit a proposal to the 6th Biennial Threshold Concepts Conference from June 15 to 17, 2016 in Halifax, Canada. The conference website is available at: http://www.dal.ca/dept/clt/events-news/Threshold_Concepts.html

This year’s theme, Thresholds on the Edge, pushes us to think about and beyond the edges of our current understandings and practices around threshold concepts. How is the notion of threshold concepts prompting us to reconceptualize our understanding of what it means to teach, learn, and design courses and curricula? How has integrating threshold concepts into your teaching pushed you to the edge of your knowledge, comfort, and identity as a teacher? What new research and practice frontiers lie ahead as we contemplate the next decade of threshold concepts work?

Our opening keynote will be shared by Prof. Linda Adler-Kassner (from the University of California Santa Barbara) and Prof. Elizabeth Wardle (from the University of Central Florida), who recently co-edited the bookNaming What We Know: Threshold Concepts of Writing Studies. And our closing keynote will be by Prof. Ray Land (from Durham University), who will be presenting his work furthering the conversation about the next steps for threshold concepts.

The deadline for submitting a proposal is January 4th. The submission portal is available through the website (see above). For more information, please email us at: thresholdconcepts2016@dal.ca.

Sincerely,
